Margaret (Maggie) Gavin holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Iowa, as well as a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. She became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC) in June 2026.
Maggie provides office-based, school-based, and virtual counseling services out of our Maquoketa location. She works with individuals aged 5+ and couples. Her clinical experience includes supporting individuals navigating family and relationship dynamics, trauma histories, domestic violence, emotional regulation difficulties, depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, and major life transitions.
With a counseling approach that is integrative, relational, and deeply person-centered, Maggie creates a supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with authenticity, curiosity, and no judgment. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, internal family systems, and polyvagal-informed techniques, she tailors the therapeutic process to each individual’s unique needs and strengths.
Possessing a background in movement and the arts, Maggie naturally incorporates expressive and somatic elements into her work. Her style blends creativity with clinical insight, helping clients reconnect with themselves in ways that feel both grounding and empowering.
Maggie began as an intern at RISE in July 2025 and as a therapist in June 2026.
