Monica holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from St. Ambrose University. She has been in the mental health field since 2018, and became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in 2025.
Monica provides therapy services to middle school and high school students through the Midland Community School District. She works with adolescents experiencing a variety of social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment difficulties, self-esteem concerns, peer relationship challenges, family-related concerns, and school-related difficulties.
Through completing her Master of Social Work (MSW) internship as a school social worker, Monica gained experience supporting students in both individual and school-based settings. Her MSW program at St. Ambrose University emphasized an empowerment-based approach that focused on building upon clients' strengths, promoting resilience, and helping individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their goals.
Monica utilizes a strengths-based, person-centered approach and incorporates evidence-based interventions tailored to each student's unique needs. She has training and experience using Motivational Interviewing to help students explore their goals, strengthen motivation for change, and build confidence in their abilities.
Monica is committed to creating a supportive, collaborative environment where students feel heard, valued, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.
Her with Midland CSD + RISE began in July 2026.
