Steffanie received her Bachelor of Science majoring in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her Master of Science in Community Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and has been a licensed therapist since 2009.
While working in a virtual capacity, Steffanie works mainly with adults. Her counseling background began with a focus on working with children and adolescents in a variety of treatment settings. Her focus since 2013 has been treatment with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life’s major stressors—including concerns in marriage, with parenting, divorce, and employment changes.
Steffanie is versed in many treatment modalities as she teaches them to aspiring future counselors, but tends to focus on cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, systems-focused, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy techniques depending on the client’s needs.
She has a passion for helping others achieve their goals as they relate to mental health and personal growth, placing emphasis on validating the experiences of her clients while helping them learn and implement techniques to address their current concerns.
Steffanie can meet with anyone in the state of Iowa virtually, which eliminates physical access barriers of transportation, drive time, inclement weather, and illness.
Steffanie began her career with RISE in February 2025.
