Brenda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Science in Professional School Counseling from Buena Vista University. She is currently working towards a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and is set to graduate in August of 2025. 

 

Brenda has a background in mental health and trauma-informed care, with experience spanning both community-based and school settings. She has facilitated educational groups for individuals referred through Probation & Parole as part of the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program (IDAP).

In addition to her work in domestic violence intervention, Brenda has spent the past five years as a school counselor supporting students in grades 6 through 12. Her areas of expertise include academic and career planning, emotional regulation, crisis response, suicidal ideation, social skill development, and collaboration with families and educators. 

 

Brenda is now offering individual counseling—virtually and in person—through our intern rate. Brenda has experience supporting clients with a range of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, behavioral challenges in adolescents, and issues related to domestic violence. She has a clinical focus on grief counseling, somatic therapy, and trauma recovery. Her therapeutic approach includes CBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered, and mindfulness-based approaches. Brenda also provides spiritually integrated counseling for clients who request it, taking a holistic approach to healing and personal growth.
